This launch not only includes Apple's iPhones, but for the first time, major Android smartphones are joining the Qi2 ecosystem. Fourteen devices, receivers, and transmitters have already passed Qi2 25W certification tests, and full-scale certification is now open to hundreds of devices waiting in the queue.
Fady Mishriki, Chair of the WPC Board of Directors, said:
The momentum behind the next evolution of the Qi standard is incredible. Consumers will be thrilled to experience Qi2 25W, which delivers nearly 70% more power than the original Qi2. The volume and variety of product designs in the certification queue are unprecedented.
According to WPC market research, the number one consumer demand for improving wireless charging is faster speeds. Qi2, launched in November 2023 with 15W charging, was a major step forward in meeting this need.
Before Qi2, many smartphone manufacturers developed proprietary fast-charging protocols, but these lacked interoperability and consistent charging performance. Qi2 25W is now the first official standard to enable high-speed, Qi Certified wireless charging.

Paul Struhsaker, Executive Director of the WPC, added:
“When we introduced Qi2, we promised that the Magnetic Power Profile would lay the foundation for even faster and more efficient wireless charging. Qi2 25W delivers on that promise, offering impressive speed and efficiency that will drive greater adoption and increase wireless charging usage worldwide.”
Nearly two years ago, WPC introduced the Qi2 standard to deliver faster charging, a better user experience, and greater convenience. Consumers love the magnetic alignment experience and the wide ecosystem of compatible accessories that work seamlessly with their smartphones.
Within just one year of launch, there were already over 1.5 billion Qi2 certified devices, transmitters, and receivers in the global market.
